Each year LITHME supports researchers and technology developers with funding opportunities, which are made possible with the support of the COST Association. LITHME Training School and Short Term Scientific Missions are a way to support professionals to widen their network. Early this year there was a call for applications for both.
The third LITHME training school received 99 applications prior to the deadline on January 15th. After the review process, 33 funded trainees were selected. The training school will be held at University of Pristina, Kosovo, June 5th-9th.
The call for STSMs received 8 great applications of which 4 could be funded within LITHME’s budget. The planned STSM activities range from networking and knowledge sharing to concrete empirical testing and evaluation of hypotheses. The supported STSMs will increase participants’ expertise in various methods of computational linguistics, speech and language analysis, contribute to their knowledge on ethical AI research, impact on endangered languages, and help planning further collaborations in the field. Each grantee and the accompanying research project will be presented in LITHME news and blog, please follow us on social media to learn more.
The LITHME team congratulates all funded trainees and grantees. We are looking forward to seeing all funded trainees in Training School and hearing about the progress of the STSMs.
